We’ve all known about and enjoyed Hiro’s one man band versions of Zeppelin songs he calls “One Man Zepp“. Over the years he’s given YouTube users tons of first class content. What he pulls off here is an abridged version of Stairway that features the solo as played by Jimmy Page on the film soundtrack to The Song Remains The Same (TSRTS).
Now this is a very rare feat for sure as the internet is peppered – even littered – with tons of Stairway covers that either butcher the song in it’s entirety and are hardly recognizable as any version, or they attempt to recreate the studio version of Stairway (much like the Original Project Stairway). But few have ever tackled TSRTS version which is particularly loved for the guitar solo that Jimmy plays and stretches out there.
True to form and style HIro rocks this using a ’94 Gibson EDS-1275 doubleneck a la Jimmy Page himself, and although he’s no John Bonham lays down all the backing tracks to allow him to work up an entrance into the solo and take us all to school. At this point I had to look at Hiro very closely to see if he was wearing a black dragon suit and I half expected him to actually be Jimmy Page – such is his performance here. There are a few other attempts at this solo on YouTube but none of them lay it down like Hiro does. That makes him not just HIro – but an actual hero in my book. Great Job again Hiro! This one is inspiring to say the least.
