Can You Sing Ten Years Gone?
After a long period of development, we are ready for vocals for our Ten Years Gone Project. Like The Stairway Project before it, we are looking for singers that would like to lay down vocals for us to use and mix into our cover and feature here on our website. You can be male or female and you need the following:
- An appropriate DAW and computer for recording (like Reaper, or Protools or similar – any good DAW should be capable)
- An appropriate interface & or mic preamp for recording (entry level focusrite or presonus is OK)
- An appropriate vocal mic
- Must be able to capture clean & dry tracks at a minimum 44.1KHz resolution in .wav format and provide us with the files. By clean we mean free of noise (like your AC, or your neighbour’s dogs, or your mom screaming at you to do the dishes) – as clean as we can get. By dry we mean free of effects – NOT PITCH CORRECTED – No reverb or EQ etc… We’ll add all that.
- Must be able to sing THE WHOLE SONG – if Plant’s vocals cut you off at the knees in the high parts then you are not the vocalist for the project (it’s why none of us are singing the song….)
- You can also provide us with Wet stems (ie – with reverb/eq etc) but we ALSO need the same tracks in a dry form so we can mix them into the tracks ourselves.
If we find more than one capable vocalist we’ll be happy to feature more than one person. We are here to celebrate Led Zeppelin, and to show what kind of covers can be made in a home recording environment in collaboration when done with care and intention. Our covers are N4N as we are attempting to replicate both the songs but also the production of the original Zeppelin tracks (where possible).
Here is what the current iteration of the bed tracks sound like. We will send you a Hi Rez 2track stereo mix to work with.
Feel free to reach out to us at admin at The Stairway Project dot com. if you have any questions
